TOMORROW!!

I can't believe I go home tomorrow!! I feel like I've been waiting FOREVER for this day and it's almost here! Although I've missed my family SO MUCH this semester, I really have realized how blessed I am to have a family that I care so much about. Even though missing them is tough, I'd much rather have a family that is worth so much missing than one that's not as close! :) (My family is BEYOND close... people have told me that they've never seen a family as close as mine and I really believe it. We are BFFs. lol). Off to finish my BRUTAL legal methods take home memo and then it's time to PACK!

Noooo!

Today I can FINALLY sleep in and I wake up on my own at 7:30am! Ugh! I laid in bed for about 30 minutes after I woke up and tried to fall back to sleep but it's just not going to happen. So, I brought my laptop over to my bed so I can at least feel like I'm "relaxing" until I decide to officially start my day. The plan for today: Print out legal methods notes and organize them in prep for my take-home final tomorrow, get cash from the bank for my cab ride to the airport on Friday, start packing for home/work on packing lists, and maybe clean a little bit. Overall, I'm really looking forward to today being a relaxing and productive one. Also, I'm going to try these new frozen chicken burgers I got at the grocery store for dinner tonight. Yay!

B1: Sausages + One egg white
B2: Fage + flaxseed
L: Over medium eggs with cheese
D: Chicken burger with cheese/mayo/mustard and a  green salad with EVOO+red wine vinegar

Menu:
B1: Sausages
B2: Fage/flaxseed
L: Over medium eggs if I'm at home or tuna salad if I'm at the library
D: Turkey burger and green salad

Fail?

I am freaking out that I might've totally bombed contracts. The thing is, I really knew the material, but the essay questions had very little facts to go from, very ambiguous, and totally freaked me out. So my brain like froze during the exam!! And I studied SO much for that freaking class!!!! Ugh!! I really hope there's a generous curve...

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Um...help?

How exactly am I supposed to study for contracts in ONE DAY? My civ pro exam was last night and contracts is TOMORROW.  I am so exhausted from my civ pro exam but don't have any time to "sleep in" because I have to do some major contracts work. Ugh! I want to sleeeep!

Menu:

B1: Sausages
B2: Fage
L: Over medium eggs
D: Turkey burgers and salad

CIV PRO I = DONE.

I just took my first 1L final!!! Ahhh!! Too bad I won't get my grade until late January (assuming, that is, that I would actually want to see my grade lol). I tried to keep today's menu consistent since I had my exam...

B1: Sausages
B2: Fage
L: Salmon salad
D: Sirloin burgers! with cheese, mayo, mustard, and a green salad!

Off to study for Contracts (which is on THURSDAY! ugh.)

Civ Pro Final...TOMORROW.

I CANNOT believe my civ pro final is TOMORROW. I am getting really stressed about grades, although I know I should just be focusing on learning the material. I just really hate the way grades are done in law school - we're graded against the other students in our class and the average grade MUST be a 3.17. So, this basically means that my classmates have more control over my grade than I do. I could learn the material really well and write what deserves to be an "A" essay, but if the other students happen to write better essays, I get knocked down to a "B." So, what constitutes an "A" exam one year could be totally different than the next year. That really bothers me. I like to know that, for better or worse, I am in control of something this important. Ugh.... frustrating. What do you guys think about this grading system? Any experiences?

Today's menu:

B1: Sausages
B2: Fage
L: Salmon salad
D: Turkey burgers and green salad.

Re-thinking the blog...

How do I get people to read this thing? lol

No one comments on my blog or follows it so I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep posting. I know it's super boring right now because all I do is study and eat the same thing everyday but I promise it'll get better! Once I go home for break, and then on vacation, the eats will be way interesting! My family is majorly into food and we always eat at awesome places on vacation. So please stay tuned!!

Forum non conveniens...amount in controversy...transitory action...

I literally wake up and have civ pro running through my head! I hope that means I'm learning it and not that I'm crazy. I think it might mean both...oh well. Tomorrow's menu:

B1: Sausages
B2: Fage
Lunch: Over medium eggs (i LOVE eggs)
Dinner: Burgers, salad.

Friday, December 5, 2008

Thank God for concealer.

Seriously! I have never had such awful circles under my eyes. Posts will be sparse in the next couples weeks due to exams. Burgers today were great and here's tomorrow's menu:

B#1: Crispy sausages
B#2: Fage + flaxseed
L: Salmon
D: Baked chicken breasts and the usual green salad.

Back to studying civ pro...

Up and at 'em!

I just can't seem to convince myself that getting sleep is worthwhile with exams so soon (first one on tuesday). I normally wake up, on weekdays, at 6:20am and woke up today at 5:30am to get some work in before I go to the library. I got probably 6.5 hrs of sleep...is that enough? I've heard some people say you need like 8 or 9 hrs a night and other say that 6-7 is sufficient. What do you guys think? How much sleep do you need a night? I'd appreciate your input! Thanks! Oh, I almost forgot, the menu for today...

B#1: Crispy sausages
B#2: Fage + flaxseed
L: Smoked salmon
D: 1/4 lb. ground sirloin burgers (I'm trying some sirloin I got from Whole Foods) with mayo/mustard/sharp cheddar and the usual green salad with EVOO and red wine vinegar

No class!

I am really stressing about finals being so soon! I can't believe I have my Civ Pro & Contracts finals NEXT WEEK! Plan for today:

B#1: Sausages
B#2: Fage + flaxseed
L: Cajun shrimp skewers from Whole Foods (they smell REALLY good!)
D: Turkey burger and salad

EXHAUSTED.

Wow, I have been crisscrossing my way around the city for about 3 hours now and am BEAT. Who knew there would be an hour wait to get my outlines printed at Kinko's and then I'd get bad directions to Whole Foods, get lost, have to go to a different Whole Foods that was farther away only to find that they are ALL OUT of fage and then have to go BACK to Kinko's to pick up my outlines and then to Publix to get my fage. Ughhhh I am soooo exhausted now. Plus, I haven't done any studying for approx. 4 hours now which is a tad stressful. I ended up scarfing down a salad at Whole Foods, which was delish, but I was so rushed I couldn't even enjoy it. I had:

A romaine/red leaf mix
Tuna
HB eggs
Grated cheese
Onions
Cucumber
About 1 tbsp. each of bleu cheese dressing and herb ranch (soooo good!)

I'm off to study some before bed! Hope your evening was less stressful than mine!!

Last day of class!

Wow, I can't believe it's already the end of my first semester as a 1L. Time has FLOWN by! This semester has been the busiest of my life but I've also learned more in these few months than I did in my 4 years in undergrad. It's been a ton of work but I really do like law school and am so glad that I made the decision to come here. I'm now in full exam-prep mode and am determined to work as hard as I can in the next week and do my best on exams! Wish me luck!

Breakfast #1: Sausages
Breakfast #2: Fage + flaxseed
Lunch: Smoked Salmon
Dinner: Something at Whole Foods!!

Awww!

I got home from the library today and found that the Boyfriend had picked me the most amazing-smelling (seriously - like more fragrant than a rose) flower and put it in a vase with a note on it so that I was greeted with it when I walked in the door. How cute!! Turkey burgers were especially delish tonight - not sure why - I did the same thing as always. But they were mighty tasty!

Off to study for civ pro (my first exam, which is on Tuesday. Ahhh!)

Have a great night!

Library = Home

I seriously am ALWAYS here! I should just bring a sleeping bag with me so I can save gas! Anyway, I had my usual "second breakfast" of fage + flaxseed + equal and chicken salad for lunch. For dinner, I'm going to make turkey burgers and salad. I usually put mayo, mustard, and sharp cheddar on my burgers, yum! And a green salad with oil + vinegar and cheese crumbles! I heart low-carb! (I always have bunless burgers, fyi, and the Boyfriend has them on Rudi's WW buns).

Ciao!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!!

I don't have class until 10:30am today, so I get extra study time! It's sad that a lack of morning class means more studying and not more sleeping lol. Oh, well. Only 17 days until I go home!! yay!!

I had my usual m.b.#1 today and some coffee. Today is my daddy's birthday! yay! I sent him (what I hope is) a cute card since I can't be there!

Hope everyone's day is off to a good start!

Ciao!

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...

I am really starting to get into old timey Christmas music! I used to not care for holiday tunes so much but I really like traditional Christmas songs in their original versions (Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, etc.). Just thought I'd share!

Dinner tonight was exactly what I'd planned (in the post below) and was delish! I love eating low-carb! It just makes me feel so healthy and gives me so much energy (which is necessary when studying for 1L exams!)

Gotta get back to studying...
Hope everyone's evening is going well!

Breakfast #2, Lunch, Dinner

I'm going to be super busy until after dinner so here's my plan for the day...

I had my fage + flaxseed already (delish as usual!) and am having pink salmon salad with red wine vinegar, italian seasonings, and S+P for lunch.

Dinner is going to be baked chicken cutlets and a green salad with EVOO/red wine vinegar, italian seasonings, S+P, and cheese crumbles.

Ciao!

Up early!

So we were supposed to have torts at 8am today instead of our normal 8:30 start time and our professor FORGOT and didn't show up until 8:30. Ughhh I hate waking up early for no reason! Anyway, I had my normal mini-breakfast #1 of sausages and some coffee from Starbucks with 1 packet of this Splenda hazelnut-flavored coffee sweetener, which is really good. I'm drinking a SF Red Bull right now and trying not to fall asleep in the library while I update my torts outline. Good luck to me!

Hope your mornings are going well!

Burgers!

So we ended up making sirloin burgers instead of turkey burgers! They were AMAZING! We used Hereford 95% lean chopped sirloin from Fresh Market and it is the most tender meat ever! So yummy! I also had a green salad with EVOO/red wine vinegar, italian seasonings, and some crumbled cheddar cheese. DELISH!

Off to shower and study!

Have a great night!

Steer clear of worriers!

Ugh! I hate it when I let people stress me out with their worries! I have enough of my own! I need to try not to let other students and their crazy fretting about exams get me even more stressed than I already am.

On a better note though, I just had the rest of the amaaaazing lemon-dill salmon that I got from Fresh Market last night. I swear, I could eat salmon everyday! It's got to be one of my favorite foods!

Gotta get back to studying - see you later!

Fage makes everything better

I love fage! My mini-breakfast #2 of fage, ground flaxseed, and Equal is sometimes the meal I most look forward to. I just love how thick the flaxseed makes the already thick yogurt. It is delicious!!

On another note, I really need to get more sleep. Lately, I've been waking up early every morning to go to the library but I haven't been getting to bed any earlier and it's really starting to catch up with me. Getting up in the morning hadn't been that hard for me earlier in the semester but it's starting to get really tough to wake up now. I don't want to be so burned-out from studying for exams that I'm a wreck by the time they actually get here! (which is in 10 days...ahhh!! lol)

Back to contracts...

Ciao!

Ughhh

I really hope it's not going to be one of those days.  So, I get to the library and find that all the doors to the law school are locked and have to spend 20 mins. walking around in the rain to find an open door. By the time I get inside, my hair is all frizzed-out and I'm a little sweaty. Then, the zipper on my fleece starts separating at the end and I spend another 5 mins. trying to fix THAT. I really hope these things don't come in threes because that doesn't bode well for me. Time to go study torts now! I hope that goes well!

Ciao!

Staples

Plan for today: Studying in the library and then making yummy turkey burgers for dinner!

I saw that Elise, over on "Elise Eats," made a list of her food staples so I thought I'd do the same.

Erin's Staples:
Fage 0%
Eggs
Salmon
Flaxseed
Tuna
Thinly-sliced chicken cutlets
Berries
Green beans
Almonds
Natural PB
Bananas
Olives
Dill pickles

Foods I hate:
Ketchup
Breaded meat (it just freaks me out lol)
McDonald's

I'm drinking a cup of Fresh Market's "Carmel Macchiato" coffee right now and it's really good! It's one of their new "holiday flavors" and I got a sample of it yesterday. I'll be having my usual mini-breakfast #1 of sausages soon too!

Ciao!

Update: Just had my two yummy little sausages! These are so good! I cook them way longer than you're supposed to and they get crunchy like bacon lol.

I have the best sister EVER!

So I was in the library studying, as per usual, and I get an email that my sister (aka twin) sent me an ecard! It was the sweetest thing ever - just an "I miss you" type card! Awww!!!

Anyway, Fresh Market was great! I got some fage, crunch time PB, lemon-dill salmon (!!), assorted diet sodas, iceberg lettuce, blueberries, ground sirloin, and some smoked salmon. YUM!

I had the lemon-dill salmon for dinner tonight, along with a salad with EVOO/vinegar, italian seasoning, and crumbled cheddar cheese - delish! And the Boyfriend had spinach lasagna, which he loved.

20 days until I go home for Christmas! I can't wait!!!

Foodie Bucks!

I had leftover steak from last night's dinner for lunch today! It was good but I over-did the microwave warm-up and cooked it a tad more than I prefer. Oh, well!

After I leave the library today, the Boyfriend and I are going to Fresh Market to spend our $5 in foodie bucks! yay! And we're going to pick up dinner while we're there! double yay! I looooove their lemon-dill salmon, so hopefully they have some of that in the cold case today. I love Fresh Market but it's a little far from our apartment so we rarely go and using our foodie bucks is a nice excuse to do so!

I've gotta get back to studying - I'm wrapping up my torts studying for today by going over products liability...jealous??

Ciao!

Library = Cold

I'm in the library today (obvi) and am studying torts. I can't seem to stop going over my outline with other books/outlines to make sure I haven't left anything out of it. I need to just stop this madness and click PRINT! As for food, so far today I've had...

2 cups of coffee (duh, law student)
2 little sausages
and I'll be having a fage with some flaxseed pretty soon

(I like to divide my breakfast into two mini-breakfasts)

I'm going to try to start taking pictures of my food tomorrow...get excited! (I am!!)

See you soon!

Update: Just ate my fage with 1 tbsp. of ground flaxseed and an Equal! YUM!

About Me

Hey everyone! I've been a major foodie-blog-stalker for a few months now...I'm only a tad obsessed. So, I've decided to start my own! A little about me...

I'm 22 yrs. old and have been a pretty big foodie for a couple years. My favorite foods are fage yogurt (which I eat daily), the filet from my favorite restaurant back home, and my mom's homemade ranch dressing (seriously, it's ridiculous). I stick to a low-carb diet, as I have been for about a year now. A college weight-gain prompted the diet but now I just realize how much better I feel when I avoid starches and sugars. As for the non-food part of my life...

I'm a 1L (first year law student) right now at a top-25 school and, as exam time approaches, becoming a more stressed 1L. However, I really do love law school and think everything I'm learning is so interesting, making it a little easier to spend 10 hrs./day in the library studying.

I'm originally from FL but going to law school in another state and miss my family terribly - especially my sister, who is my best friend. I get to see them over Christmas break though, and I'm thrilled! Hmm...I'm not sure what else to say about myself but I'm sure if something interesting happens, I'll blog about it!

Ciao!

PS - I am trying to figure out my digital camera so I can post the requisite "eats of the day" pictures that I love so much on other blogs. Until then, I will simply relay my meals in sadly less-exciting word form.
